Hi Albert,
Jan here - from Northamptonshire!!! I was asleep when we spoke last night !!!
It was good of you to contact me and make all your positive comments about our group - Way-On.
I have just been looking at your site, and I really like it - specially a couple of things about it.
Are you the one who actually started your group?
I wonder if there is some value in maintaining contact between the groups - re holidays etc. or are we too far away for that?
Regards,
Jan.

Hi All,
Just a quick update on our website!
You can now access the mobile version of the site on your Mobil phone (if you have internet access?)
Then add comments, view new events look for changes etc. This is just the start of some useful changes including reaching out and inviting new members to join our group not forgetting widowers who may be misled by the "Welsh Widows" name!
Best regards from
Andy
Thanks Albert.x

Hi everyone.
On the 4th May myself and my daughter are doing a 6mile midnight walk in aid of Ty Hafan.
The purpose of raising money from this is to give mothers who have children with life limiting conditions support and a good nights sleep every now and again.
If anyone would like to sponsor us, we would be really grateful no matter how small the donation. You can do so by following the link below and donating online.

Hi everyone wont be linking up with you all at the wenvoe arms this evening, haveing got home late from my nightshift, and then considering the transport costs of anight out at this venue, ie a bus into the city center, possible taxi out west <ten pound> then taxi home on my own, < fifteen pounds at least> weighed against the two and a half hours at the most that I would actually be out and decided that its not worth spending that amount just for afew hours. Very sorry paticulaly to the people who I have not seen for a while who I wanted to catch up with, but, I simply cant afford the transport costs of attending these places on a regular basis ,not every week. See you all on March 17 th hope you enjoy tonight take care all Albert.
Hi Linda,
Count me in for this Saturday please.
Hi Linda, probably wont make the munchies at the wenvoe arms this weekend. But will link up with you later say about nineish. Comment to Helen, glad the meal on Sunday went well , well done for organising and pulling yet another event off. Just hope it dont have to much of an impact on the lunchtime meet on thursdays, but it wont be a weekly event anyway will it, but sounds a very good monthly one what do you think, see you up the wenvoe arms if you can make it, take care all Albert.

Hi everyone, sorry I havent been able to meet up with you all the last two weekends and cant come this weekend either, as my daughter Kate, and my darling grandchildren Alisha and Leah, are comeing to stay. Not to sure about next weekend either, work issues are takeing up a lot of my energy at the moment, and all I hear is major change, major change, and its going to get a lot worse before its get better etc, been hearing this for the last nine months. So please dont anyone pay any deposit for me for the meal on the 18th as I Am not sure yet what I am doing, will try my best to meet up with you all at the Three arches the following week . Hi Albert, Yes again a fab curry! And they got the bill spot on! I think we all had a great time but due to the Brass Monkey weather the curry was enough! Maybe in the summer time we will visit the club next door? Look forward to seeing you all on the weekend.
Andy

Hi Terry,we'll be meeting in the bar.
ARE you meeting in the bar tonight or is it in a room for the meeting at anerin bevin.
Hi Albert, I think a few people fell off their chair when they read £20.00 a month me included lol. Well done for posting and keeping people in the loop, a formal email will be sent out to everyone advising them about our meeting and the decisions which have been made. We are meeting in the Aneurin Bevan this Sat for anyone who wishes to join us.
Hi me again, sorry to alarm you I meant 20 quid a Year. Take care, Albert.
Hi everyone, to those who are are out there, but also are members, for various reasons cant get to meet with us on a personel basis. As you know we WELSH WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS , held our first AGM last Saturday at the Victoria park hotel. The meeting went well , much was discussed, including events to be held, <see events page> and a lot have thing s have bean resolved, we now have a constituition, a bank account, properly elected comitee, and yes there will be an annual subscribtion, looks like 20 quid a month to provide funds for us to expand and reach out to others who have found themselves in the same situation. A full and formal anouncement will be made in due course, this is just to update those of you who visit the site and those of you who support us who are members but cant get to meet us yet. Take care all out there.Albert.
Hi Wende, lovely to hear from you and great to hear that you will be joining us this Sat. I can meet you outside the venue at 8pm so you have company to walk in with, so I will see you there.

Hi Chris and everyone - I hope you have a peaceful New Year. I won't make the 3 Arches but will raise a glass at midnight to all of us - we are surviving and that's the important thing. Lindax
Hi Chris, will be thinking of you tomorrow another milestone to get through, be kind to yourself and look at it as just another day we have to get through, we know they are difficult as we have so many memories that we cherish of people who we loved and so important to us xx
Hi Chris, sorry that this is such a hard time, thinking of you and we have each other, Lorna x
Hi Helen& Linda,
So true, this time of year is difficult for all of us,I'm dreading the New Year as my husband would have been 50 on New years day.
See you soon x
Hi Helen - thanks for that. It's hard for us all at this time of year.X
I know Christmas and the now looming New Year celebrations would have been difficult for most of us, so thats why I thought I would post this saying which I came across,
"Every day is a new beginning, treat it that way. Stay away from what might have been and look at what can be".
Take care everyone and see you soon x
Hi everybody, hope you all had a good christmas, look forward to seeing you all in the near future. Best wishes, Kelvin
Lin cant make Boxing day but would love an hour or three out on Tuesday . Back to work Wednesday night, like to get together, ring around, see what you can come up with. Take care ALB.
Hi everyone - I hope you have as good a day as possible. Is anyone interested in coming out on Boxing night. LindaX
Glad they were pleased with our donation at the Ty Hafan shop,a very worthy cause.
Went along to the Ty Hafan shop today with our donation of £40.00 from the raffle we held at our xmas meal, they were really pleased to receive this amount and thanked us very much for supporting them.
Hi Jardon, ref scottish Dancing, suggest you ring Chris on the number she provided, in case you havent got it it is07840802407 . merry Xmas. Albert.
Yes Chris I agree, a brilliant night, the food was very good . I enjoyed all three courses, liked the way they called out our names when they came to serve us. The raffle after the meal which raised money for Ty hafren was a very good idea, well done Helen. merry Xmas to all our members, Albert.
Good night last night, good food and company ,just what i needed, hope everyone else enjoyed it,
Good afternoon Albert,
You may be going nuts, I would not dare to comment on that ! Ha ha ! Actually I'm convinced I was a hedgehog in a past life. :-)
After I pressed the ' send ' button last night, I did wonder if I had received the St Fagans email. ?? Could there be a chance that they all got lost in cyber space, hence no replies. Just a thought.
(( Hugs )) to all those struggling at this time of year.
Marion x
Hi Marion, hope you get to read this before you go into hibernation, were you a squirrel in your previous life or am I nuts. Your views were very pertinent , yes you are very right when you say people in our circumstances do go into grin and bear it mode, put on a brave face and get through it. But it did seem sad that somebody who made the effort to suggest somewhere to go that children might like, didnt get a response. Maybe in the new year with Spring comeing and the weather getting warmer some other events could be organised by our small but growing group in this neck of the woods. Take care Albert.

Hello Helen,
Sending (( hugs )) as you sound very disappointed about the xmas faire not happening. But please don't be too downhearted as , going by the comments posted on the Way-Up forum, most of the folk in our ' club ' struggle with this time of year, and go into ' baa humbug ' mode. Sad but true.
I hope you are keeping well. See you in the spring, going into hibernation now. !

I have to say that I was disappointed that we didn't go to St Fagans last night I feel we would have had an enjoyable evening there, we need to put more effort into attending different events than just meeting in pubs and going for meals, we need to diversify to keep interest in the group and encourage new people to join.
Unfortunately the Christmas Night at St Fagans which was this evening has been cancelled as no one has emailed to say that they will be attending

Hi Linda, the meet on sat is the Aneurin Bevan, to near to Xmas now for any other plans. Message to Helen, as you probably know I wont be there working nights as i do. But I urge anyone in this group who has kids, is young at heart, and likes a bit of culture, to give it a go. Sounds to me like a good way to get into the spirit of Chrismas and the festive season, take care all, Albert.
Hi Helen - Sorry I can't make it on Friday. Have a great time! p.s. is there a meet-up on Saturday?
This Friday we are going to St Fagans for the Christmas Night evening, can you please post on here if you will be going to what should be a great festive night out so we know who will be attending. Thanks
Hi Jardon and welcome to our group. There a quite a few of us living in the Vale by that I mean Penarth, Barry, Rhoose and the surrounding areas. As Albert said we do usually meet in Cardiff but there is nothing stopping a few of us meeting up socially with you for a coffee or a drink in the Vale somewhere and chatting to you about our group. Whereabouts do you live in the Vale??
Both Barry and Penarth are within easier reach than Cardiff.
Yes, I mean the Vale of Glamorgan.
Hi Jardon, pleased to meet you,. Thank you for dipping your toe in the water so to speak, it takes courage to make decisions like that in our circumstances. By he vale I assume you mean Llantwit and Cowbridge <exuse my geography>. Ime affraid at the moment there no events in this area at the moment because we are a still young and growing group, but that is not to say there wont be any in the future. We do have members in Barry and Penarth ,etc, and if you want to keep in touch and maybe meet up with us you are more than welcome. If you have transport issues pleased be assured you are not alone. Again thanks for getting in touch, take care Albert.
I am new to this site. I notice the events listed and those mentioned are all in Cardiff. Are there any in the Vale?
nice one lorna, spreading the word is nothing but positive
Hi Lorna - I just wanted to say well done!!!! It takes a lot of courage to speak in front of that many people. Let's hope we get more members as a result. LindaX
Hi all just thought I would share this with you,
I was a guest speaker at a befriending the bereaved training course, I had a 30min slot and was able to talk about welsh widows, the website and the events, the feed back I had at the end of the event was fantastic, they all took leaflets and cards and so we should be able to reach out to even more people,
Lorna
Likewise Linda, as you know, you were there, last saturday was an anniversary for me, and I could have spent the night on my own, with my daughter liveing in Weymouth and my son going out <he is young and the young do what they do as we did what we did>. So what did I do,I spent the evening in an Italian restaurant enjoying good food, good conversation, and with people who have experianced the same thing as me.There were18 of us in there last weekend, all in the same boat, took my mind off things, easy to talk, best place to be when you have a date like this comeing up is to be with Welsh Widowers and Widows. Dont be on your own be with us l Linda I will be thinking of you like I did last year, but you have come an awful long way since last year, most of it down to you, Stand tall Linda you have done well. Albert
Hi everyone - it will be two years on Wednesday since I lost my lovely husband. I don't know what I would have done without this group. Linda
Hi all, the meal is booked for Saturday and after doing the ring round it feels like we will be 21 and 3 of these being new people, the manager has asked that we put our orders in (he wasn't sounding like rushing us but more like making sense) as soon as we can and , his words chat chat chat then, so they can cook cook cook, ha! ha! see you all on Saturday,
Lorna
Hi everyone - here is the list for La Lupa. Any changes pls ring lorna as I will be away this week. Andy,Helen,me, Lorna, Chris,Jan,Angela,Liz,Jean,Peggy,Eric,Mary,Kelvin,Albert, Jenny +2, Mandy

Hi Jean, glad the 3 of you had a good night, gutted that i wasn't able to be there.
WHAT A NIGHT ,as you know jan, liz and i whent in to town last night, we had a fab time live band,we jigged all night got home about 2-15,most of you would have really enjouyed it, hope you can make it next time. jean
PS what is on next saturday.
I have noticed some good ideas on the “Add an event in your Area” Board! If anyone has views on them please feel free to post on that board!
Andy
Hi Jean. Thanks for that, actually was thinking about going to the Masons sat night, but made the mistake of working a night shift and then staying up to watch the rugby. I didnt get to bed until gone 11 AM and then when I got up my daughter phoned<naturally because of the day she wanted a chat with her dad>. Her Mum would have been 60 this year and we both along with my son found it paticularly poignant.Decided to stay in after that it was getting on a bit and my head was a bit full.Still these things happen to us from time to time and we just have keep on going. Hope you all had a good time and hope next Tuesday goes well for you, will be thinking of you, again thanks for your kind words take care see you next week if you are there . Albert.
jean
Hi Albert, everybody missed you last night,i gather it was a bad time for you,for me to tuesday it will be two years, i also have been on my own,and i know we wonder how we carry on with our lives but we have to. Take care hope to see you soon.X
Hi, I was speaking to celia today and she asked me to post about the great time that was had at the theatre, lots of laughing and our Janet dancing away!!! so good to know they all had such a fun and good company, keep it going,
Lorna
Hi Linda
The email sent out says the same that I have posted below, once we have an idea of numbers we can then arrange a date and a venue
Hi Helen - I haven't had the EMail so can you put the details on the website. Thanks. Also can someone clarify where we are meeting this Saturday eve 15th.
I have sent an email out to all our members about meeting up for a coffee morning, that way we can meet those of you who havent managed to come to any events yet or perhaps are a little apprehensive, why not join us to see what we can offer you and find out what our group is all about, anyone new wishing to join us would be more than welcome. Once we have an idea of numbers we can then sort out where to meet up. Hope to hear from you soon.
Hi Shelagh and everyone - it's the 12th!!!!!! see you then LindaX
Hi Linda , That is what I thought but it is listed as 5th and having made a mistake with the theatre date thought I should check. Should it be altered to 12th?
Hi Shelagh the next one will be on Oct 12 as far as I know. LindaX
Hi, can you confirm that Three Arches lunch is on 5th October?
Hi Terry, a group of us are going to the Aneurin Bevan which is a lively pub, also a group will be at the Masons if you fancy a quiet drink, hey you are spoilt for choice!!
hello, just a question about saturday, the 1st of october.is it at the anuerin bevan or is it at the masons. bit confusing.can you please let me know.asap.
Hi Jan
Sorry for the confusion on Sat night re the change of venue, and yes you are right in saying that we should have sent an email or text re the changes, I think we have learnt a valuable lesson there and in the future will send out a notification to our members. Have a great holiday and see you on your return. Helen x
Disappointed last night. Turned up at Chapter only to discover that the venue had been changed to The Wharf. May I suggest that when a venue is changed during the week, people are contacted by phone, text or e-mail. I am sure that others, like me, don't check the website every day.
Thanks Chris for the lift. It was much appreciated after our dash across town to join up with everyone.
Hope to see you when I get back from holiday.
Jan
Hi Shelagh - yes it will be on 28th Sept and every two weeks after that . LindaX
Hi no mention of lunch after 14th September. Is it still taking place as I enjoyed this and don't come to the evenings as I don't drive.
so sorry sent that twice the phone rang and startled me
